Yeah and Kai'Sa was also supposed to be assassin and now she is just a dps. The closest we have to a assassin adc is quinn and idk even if she was supposed to be a assassin.

Probably just outdated terminology.
She's more akin to a ranged skirmisher by modern standards, with a heavy focus on dueling and damage agnosticism. Vayne isn't so much a tank shredder as she is good at killing everything. Like Master Yi with range but less DPS.
