Blue essence has replaced IP - so you'd buy anything that used to be bought with IP with BE now. You also no longer earn IP after games, but instead earn shards every once in a while which you can either save to upgrade into champions you don't have, or disenchant for BE.

yea, that;s the point of the special items in the store...for people with too much BE after the conversion and no champs needed.
