What is the time limit for being afk before an auto loss? And why is an auto loss given?

If you get punished regardless of coming back or not doesn't that just decentivize people from returning after an afk and punish the teammates with a guaranteed loss? It seems pretty counter intuitive

Just guessing by other people's posts, it looks to be about 4-5 minutes at max before you auto lose. If your computer has a HDD and needs to restart, don't waste your time, you probably won't make it.

I agree, it does seem counter intuitive to say "Doesn't matter that you fixed your tech issue and won the game, we'll be taking LP away like you lost." Punishment - fine. Gaining 0 LP - fine. Losing LP - Why bother reconnecting?
