Can someone explain to me why I have to win against platinum players, JUST to get into gold?

Why do I need to be playing at the level of Whole Tier above me and then some, JUST to get to gold?

Before at most even with high ass MMR you would be playing against two to three divisions MAX.

Now I've been having to consistently play at a high gold, low plat level just to get to S1 and from the looks of it, G4 is going to be very difficult with all the trolls that promos brings.

Right now Riots ranked system is beyond screwed over. You are getting placed against higher tier and their placements is laughable at best. For those who are only getting ranked during this pre-season can win all 8 games get s+ in every last one of them but still be put into iron 4. There is no point in ranking during this pre-season.
