Underappreciated Good Old Games

Everyone respects classics like KOTOR 2, but one that slipped under the radar and got alot of bad press was Alpha Protocol.

It was terribly buggy on consoles, but the PC version was much more stable. With the bugs not being a major issue for me on PC, I found the game was actually pretty fun with a really good story. It features plenty of branching narratives, interesting characters and graphically has aged very well for a game that came out 8 years ago.

What are some underappreciated oldies that you've come across?

age of empires 2

there's still a pro scene, and watching games between two good players is unironically more entertaining than starcraft 2 or LCS ever was

The first two Golden Sun games. Never played the third but those first two were amazing, especially the djinn system which could let you combine them in combat to preform super attacks or equip multiple djinn to party for stat boosts and/or class changes.A surprisingly deep game

This game was super under-appreciated. A first person game that started as a shooter, but then some Bloodborne plot twists (before Bloodborne existed) happened, and it turned into an epic first person fighting game. I'll never forget the moment I first encountered a T'lan super soldier and nearly shitting my pants as I could only run, to the third act when I was punching them across the room or into the ceiling.

I need a good Xbox emulator to play this game. I'll never forget you, Breakdown.

Devil Dice. Best puzzle game on the PS1. I'd say one of the best puzzle games ever.

Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst

For consoles, it was the first great MMORPG and it set a higher standard for character customization than any other game of its time. Many games of this day and age still have less overall customization areas than PSO (general areas as in outfit, character hair, hair color, so on) and PSO still has its own level of mechanical skill tied in.

That's a weird way to spell Ty the Tasmanian Tiger.
