riot more focused on politics than game development. video
Segment starts off at 7:05 if you want to check out the video.
My issue is that they're engaged in double standards and discriminating against men. The thing is if you're good, no matter if you're a man, woman, etc then you will be brought on a professional team. Same thing applies to being a game dev. I'm pretty sure the type of behaviour displayed by Riot in the state of California (or anywhere in the US) is illegal.
"Under the laws enforced by EEOC, it is illegal to discriminate against someone (applicant or employee) because of that person's race, color, religion, sex (including gender identity, sexual orientation, and pregnancy), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information." I believe this also trickles down to denial of service regulations set forth by the civil rights act of 1964, but not 100% but I'm sure it does.
The video also provides conversations around riot employees (daniel Z klein being one of these individuals) engaging in misandry.
Riot's actions look like a response to the infamous and badly written article kotaku article.
Overall bad way to go about business, and also enabling your community/esports teams (in the sense that skill is no longer the most important factor) as a whole. Riot you're not a political party. Honestly majority of your player base probably doesn't care about virtue signaling. Focus on making the game, and developing esports. I've seen quite a few companies go down this route and IT ALWAYS turns out bad. Just look at battlefield 5 as an example. There is a lot more than that as an example but as a closing statement this is truly troubling.
