i always thought of vlad as a '' blood '' mage, funny thing he is a mage that uses blood so he is a blood mage.

League was at one point a DOTA clone before it split off and took more unique design decisions and balance choices so it wouldn't be surprising if he was.
Probably for appearance, but not much else.

Possibly. Granted the similarities of Kael'Thas and Invoker are much more apparent. You can find some leftover similarities between league and dota/wc3 like Ashe/Drow and Kassadin/Anti Mage.

Check out the similarities between a lot of early LoL designs and a lot of DotA designs, and then Wc3 character designs if you want the whole cycle.
Its a pretty clear lineage, and it makes sense since DotA lifted most of its models from the Wc3 map editor since it was initially a custom game.
I mean 90% of mobas are just warcraft 3 with the units and structures taken out of your control.
