How do you find a main for league?

Recently during my time of league of legends I find myself looking to find someone fun to play more and more and I have a hard time understanding how to find a champion that is right for me. How do you figure that out for someone who still doesn't know?

Well, the answer is play a bunch of champions. Try getting a few games on each. See what you love about each one, and what you dislike.

Then, make a list of things you really want a single champion to have. Research as many champions as you can and get a small pool of champions that meet those criteria. Then weed them out until you have your main(s)

My main is Taric. I was playing a ton of different champs early, and decided to figure out what I enjoyed. I tried every position a bit, finding support was my favorite. Playing champions, I realized I liked melee champions (from my time in top lane), supports that can heal AND shield, an most importantly, had a good form of cc.

For me, that left only a few champions, and the one I decided on was Taric. He didn’t have a reliable cc against master Yi, one of my criteria, but it he had everything else and at least some ability to deal with him.

I’ve really come to love Taric. Sometimes I get bored and play another champion a bit but whenever I learn how to improve I go straight back to him. He’s just got everything I enjoy about league, and I judge a lot of other champions based on how they compare to him. He’s just truly Outrageous

Hope this helps. Remember: a Main is someone you play the most, not the only champion you play. You’ll burn out unless your Anniebot in disguise or something. Enjoy yourself!

Honestly.. play ARAMs Forcing yourself to play someone you normally wouldn't ARAM's take a champion waayy out of context, but you get a good idea of how they work and can apply it to SR. You can also look into role. Do you like tanky top laners and jungler? You can narrow down the options and take champs into that practice tool to see how they work.

But it ultimately comes down to just playing everything you can. My surprise list: Top: Vlad and Jax (why) Jungle: Amumu?? Why is he so damned fun? its the raptors i s2g Mid: I dont like mid lane too much, but Swain, Ekko and Zed were a bit intertaining ADC: I knew I would like Jhin, but Sivir is sooo satisfying late game Sup: Im a support main, I do it all. Never thought the sit back and do nothing enchantress would be my type (I was originally a LB/Fiora main)

Some people don't main a champion. That's ok. There isn't really a way to find a main, you just end up playing a champion that piques your interest for some reason and become good with them. Next, you play them 90% of the time for a period of time. Some people do that some don't.

I think just playing and trying different Champions for a few games is the only way. You have to find someone you like to play, or maybe you like their theme or personality. Everyone is different, so you have find what you like.

Like Aeoss said, playing ARAMs can help, because you'll be forced to play Champions you don't typically play, and you may be surprised by what you like.

No one can tell you what to main, you have to figure it out yourself.

hmm...let's start with the basics. What do you think is fun when you play the game. Do you like feeling unkillable? Or really op damage wise? Do you like making other people feel op? Maybe you like jumping into the middle of everything, or maybe you like sneaking up on people.

Hard to give advice on a main if you don't have information on what it is you'd like to do.

Me personally, I found that I like an element of control. In particular, what I consider fun is pretty much just denying the enemy anything they want to do, and forcing them into a situation more favorable for the victory of me and my team. So I learned how to tank, and I learned how to play control mages and de-initiator supports. Most tanks have a lot of ways to disrupt people. That disruption is a form of my control - I decide when you move. I decide how you move. Because if I'm in the fight with one of these tanks, I consider it my job to either hold you in place for my team forever, or to rip you as far away from your target as possible. It's the same with control mages and most of my supports - I intend to prevent my opponent from doing anything worthwhile in the fight.

I'd have to say though, my support game is probably my best game - simply because my style of play still works best with others who take advantage of the control I exert on the enemy.

My brother told me Jhin's voice actor was Quinton Flynn and I made an account a few days later. 2 years and over 760+ mastery points later, I have no regrets about maining him.

People chose their mains for different reasons. Some people enjoy their voice. Some people enjoy their design, or their gameplay, or their lore. Or, sometimes, its a perfect combination of all these things.

Some people just don't have mains, though. Maybe its because they don't want to, or maybe its because their champion doesn't exist yet.

All that being said, in the end, the choice is purely yours to make. Find the champion you enjoy more than anything else, the one you love everything about, the one you'd always pick no matter what state they're in. If you can't find them, maybe they haven't been made yet. Or, if you find you don't want to have a main, that's fine too.

For me it was easy. I came from GW1, and there i figured, that for some reason i like healing, and protecting. Keep my teammates alive, and help them to keep fighting, or ignore the *holes, and let them DIE. After this the support main was obvious. When i tried Soraka i wanted that as main, but was SERIOUSLY overnerfed back then. So i took Janna instead. Now Janna is overnerfed, and Soraka is great.

People who are describing themselves in relation to League with the words "main" or "one-trick", etc. are saying that they play this one champion. Whether it's because they find that because they find that champion more enjoyable, or interesting to play as or whatever reason it maybe, they choose to play that champion to the exclusion of others. If that does not describe you, then it just doesn't describe you. So I wouldn't worry about it.
