New Player Wants To Get Good

I can't play now because my laptop can't handle League. Once i get my desktop though, how should i play to improve? I want to climb the competitive ladder in the future, but currently i'm just a draft/blind scrub. Should i just play constantly and watch Twitch streams of better players? Should i down every Youtube video like nobodies business?

Good on you for waiting on a desktop. Also good on you for picking up the Amumu suggestion. But yeah, watching others play really does help, it can remove a lot of the trial and error for you in this game. (Maybe keep in the back of your mind which are entertainers and which are educational, just in case).

One trick. Learn one champ, with one good role- who can preferably off-role if necessary. Learn optimal rune setups and builds, and abuse them. Show no mercy. Kill DCs. Punish mistakes. Go for the First Blood every time.

Watching high elo streams help a lot, too. I've learned quite a bit about jungling from just listening to Dom while playing, He's a condescending asshole most of the time--especially when losing--but he does explain things pretty well when he's doing them.

YouTubers like gbay99, FoxDrop, and Lone Coyote are highly educational, as well.. Maybe not gbay so much anymore, but still.

  1. Learn to hit 100 CS in ten minutes while under pressure.
  2. Watch the minimap, even in teamfights.
  3. Pick 2-4 champs to play for 2 roles. If you are going to be a support main, don't worry about the second role because you'll never get it.

Do those two things and you'll be pretty good.

Just play with good players, surround yourself with bronzies and get on their level or play with plat and diamonds and get on their level. Don't focus on watching challenger streamers, or having this amount of CS by this time, etc. At the end of the day, you just want to have better items and have a higher level than your opponent.. do that, and don't get picked off and die stupidly (so if you dont have vision, don't go there)
