Patreon is just changing it so that the user pays the fees, instead of the creator.
It's slightly odd, and people will whine about it, but it really isn't a significant difference. (Especially given that, at just about any reasonable pledge level, you're looking at about 20-50 extra cents. I back a patreon at 10/month and it will add 23 cents to what I pay. Who the fuck cares.)
