Is Silver 5 bad For First Time Ranked
So i have been playing league for approximately 8-9 months and have decided recently to play ranked. I ended up placing in Silver 5. Is this good for my first placements or am i bad?

the average player is silver 3
not bad for just starting out
Nah, it's actually slightly above average, I believe.
The truth is, you went 2-8 and that is awful. Your rank is silver 5 and not bronze because the system is super forgiving for a newcomers first season... it takes losing 9 out of 10 placements to get bronze first season.
If you continue to play I can guarantee your mmr will drop which will make next season placements much harsher, a 2-8 next season will put you in low bronze while a 5-5 would make it a coin flip between bronze 1 and silver 5.
The best thing you can do is stop ranked and focus on learning for the rest of the season and then trying ranked again after the reset. If your win rate is less than 50% it is not worth grinding ranked because it will just be frustrating and take away any fun you'd likely have with the game simply due to the amount of harassment you will receive.
Enjoy the silver rewards, for a first season it is not terrible... but don't bother looking for feedback on whether silver 5 is good first season or not because bronze exists and you aren't in it. Just use common sense to know that a 20% win rate is well below average, but you are new and have plenty of time to learn before the next season.
actually any player gets in placed in siilver between 1 and 5 so you are normal... even if you became lvl 30 now and you win 10 of your placements u will get that position or lower.. so it is all about luck in my opinion
9 months isn't a very long time for this game so a low placement is to be expected.
