My AMD rig runs within a few FPS and even beats it's counter part in a few titles.
The fact is both companies have fantastic cards that deliver excellent results.
I agree that nothing beats a 1080 and in most cases a 1070, but what we're talking about is 10 to at most 20 fps difference between comparable cards. The human eye cannot notice a difference of 10-20 fps if the minimum fps is 10-20 fps beyond 29 fps. Below 29 fps you begin to notice a little.
Drivers are an issue birth sides have. In fact I haven't had driver issues with my 390 yet, but had a ton with NVIDIA, but I like both companies.
