Honestly this whole "PAX" thing is a shitstorm

This is a pretty heated debate, i have made and deleted several posts myself trying to get it right, but ill go with this.

A lot of people are indeed attacking people because of this decision which isnt fair.

But what else isnt fair are the people retaliating by generalizing a (mostly) civilized discussion on sexism and exclusion.

I see a lot of people saying things like "How can people be offended at sexual misconduct in the workforce, but be upset when they throw a full woman event?" Well maybe because to the internet BAD = BAD?

I am all for woman empowerment, especially in the gaming community. But stating you cant find rape bad if you find sexism bad..... WHAT?

And the people saying "All the people upset are men." No a MAJORITY of the people vocal that are upset are men? Why? Because thats what a majority of the playerbase is. And arent you COMPLETELY excluding the women who oppose this by not mentioning them to promote your narrative. I have been looking around for quite a while and i have seen MANY women denouncing this, and maybe MAYBE 2 promoting it.

Hell even if it was indeed "woman only" if they were WAY more touchy on it other than "men not allowed" something like, oh i dont know, AN ACTUAL STATEMENT IN THE ARTICLE? NOT A COMMENT BY A POOR RIOTER IN THE ARTICLE?

MOST if this shitstorm couldve been avoided if instead of "We are talking about all these interesting topics, but NO MEN ALLOWED until quiet time and QnA." Something like "We are hosting a panel on women empowerment in the workforce, and since we want the most women possible to attend, until this specific section is over it will be Women and NB only. However, for those excluded the panel will be streamed in our other room, and you will be allowed entry when its over." So that people KNOW what the panel is about instead of people interested in game development who have every right to be interested being barred when they get to the door?

That statement is WAY better than straight demonizing your majority of playerbase.

Sure it is just a change in tone, but it wouldve been appreciated more.

Riot just straight handled this awfully, and I am pretty disappointed.

(and for the record, i have seen some pretty shitty things from people who are upset, i am not pardoning them. but this is mostly about hypocrisy/ignorance than going at specific people)

Excluding people based on gender from jobs and opertunities is always bad. There is no correct time to do that.

Edited for clarity

As with nearly everything, this comes down to timing, context, and execution. They could have handled it better, but they decided to do it the right riot way
