Overwatch won't let my friend and me play comp together after 2 games.
So, neither of us are ranked and we decided to play together. We play two games and abolutely stomp the enemies, him as Brigitte and me as Zarya. Then we try to queue up for a third game, and it says there's too much of a difference in skill level, despite neither of us having a rank.
It seems that it decided we can't queue together based on our performance. He had gold everything while I only had gold objective time and shielding. And I would be mad... but I like to think rationally about things.
This is probably in place to prevent smurfs from carrying newer/worse players. It'd actually be great if League adopted this practice, and they've already got the Mastery score system to base it on. Because it's not quite fair to ban people for boosting when they're smurfing, but it's also not fair to allow high-ranking players to mess with the matches of people legitimately trying to climb (or their friends who legitimately don't deserve to). But making it so they can't queue up together if their friend actually can't keep up would be a good compromise.
