Ranked 2019 - Discussion about the Positional Ranked System. Good, Bad or Ugly?

Ranked 2019 has just started and Riot has decided to test a new ranked system in NA and KR. Love it or hate it, we are now playing with a Positional Ranked system.

Over the course of my ranked games, I played my placements for my main role and a few of the placements for my off roles. I'm now at the point that I don't see any reason to play my off roles. The only rank I care about is the one I have the most games in, so my main role. When I get filled to an off role, I'd rather just dodge than play an entire game out for a gain of ~6 lp in the one rank I care about.

On the flip side, if I do play out on my off role and lose, there isn't much of an impact to my main. Even with this being the case, I'd rather not waste the time.

Which brings me to my next gripe. Dodge timers. The new system incentivises specialization. You gain lp for roles individually, so most players are likely to all in on one role to get the highest rank they can in that one position. Dodging when you get your off role has the same punishing timers.

I am getting mixed signals from Riot here. I want to play my role, the one that I am climbing on and the one that you have encouraged me to play. I don't want to play the other roles, but if I don't play, I get put in time out for 5-30+ minutes. This frustrates me.

I already miss the days of having one rank to grind. If I got my off role, I would play it out most of the time to try and make lp gains despite not getting my main role, because the game counted towards my one rank. With the new system, I don't want to do that. My biggest complaints about the new system is the lack of reward for playing your off role and the mildly severe punishments for not.

But lets discuss. Do you think the Positional Ranked system is good or not? What parts do you enjoy or not? Is positional rank killing the ranked experience, or is this the start of a new era of League?

I have presented one argument and one viewpoint on the new ranked experience. I'd like to here more.
