Get a rescue dog. Stand next to her with dog. She will be interested in dog, and the ice will be broken for you. Since he's a rescue, you'll even seem compassionate (a good trait).
Unless you're literally standing next to her right now. "Hi, I'm (insert name here)" works just fine. The more you think about it, the more awkward anything you can think up will be.
