Why do we put people in jail when you can just ignore them?

It's not other people's responsibility to control your behavior. Muting is only to mitigate further issues with your chat, but they aren't required to do it and it doesn't justify offensive or abusive chat behavior.

Because you may notice that whether or not some random player mutes you has nothing to do with whether or not you are violating the ToS that you agreed to.

As I was told when I was toxic a few years back and had the same (stupid) idea that you just posted.

"The mute function isnt an excuse for you to be an asshole to people. Its so your immediate team doesn't have to hear you, the punishment system is so the WORLD doesnt have to hear you be an asshole to people. Grow up."

All they need to do is remove the in-game chat & implement voice comms with a mute feature. Then, nobody is getting banned but the people who are intentionally trolling:

The best part? Exacly zero toxicity. But like ya say, Riot apparently get their rocks off when they ban somebody.
