Top lane main struggling against certain champions

I've been screwing around on this account learning top transitioning out as a JG main - I'm fine in general with top I've just hit certain pillars of "what do I do"

Karma Heimerdinger Renekton Viktor

Karma and victor infinitely poke while I try to CS, try to chase and they've got absurd amounts of mobility - they take Kleptomancy for the free mana pots and etc all around bad time for me lol

Heimer you die in a second to and he's got absolute lane domination with the turrets

Renekton never feels like he's weak, when do I go in and what's his weakness?

Any tips would be great, I'm a Darius one trick but I'll certainly struggle against any of these 4

As Darius you really will suffer like most juggernauts when fighting Viktor or Karma. You have to be more wary of Viktor, as he actually contains the damage to kill you unlike karma. If you struggle every time you lane against them I suggest Dorans Shield and refillable/corrupting and then get CS where you can. AVOID MISSING EXP AT ALL COSTS. Also get phage so that if they slip up you have a mobility boost to catch them.

Heimerdinger is similar, although he doesn't have any mobility so he is forced to play around his turrets. If you get phage and manage to hit a pull on him and sidestep the stun on his bomb then you have a good chance of out trading him w a rotation.

The match up with Renekton depends on your skills and timing and the opponent's skill. A good Renekton will always dash into your Q to avoid the outer blade using his dash. If you want to hit your Q outer on him you have to chain it from pull, there's no reliable way to hit it by itself when he has dash up. Basically, shut down his mobility (double dash) using your pull to hit your skillshot (Q) in order to win/go even in a trade. Also Renekton's ult gives him health on cast so if you manage to get into an even 1v1, use your ult at 5 stacks and don't bother holding it unless the jungler is near.

Against Viktor, it's reliant on you being 1) willing to back up to avoid giving him free klepto procs and 2) being willing to force an all in if he walks too far forward to get those klepto procs and knowing when to do either one. Taking ghost can help in this matchup.

Karma's only reliable poke also relies on her pushing the wave or positioning really strangely. If she shoves waves, she's more vulnerable to ganks, mobility or not. Additionally, you can take ghost into this matchup to help counteract the value of her mobility. Early boots can assist with this as well. Also remember to hold your e until the w snare if possible.

In both of these cases, your target is squishier than typical laners, so you will be able to afford putting off your damage in exchange for mobility and still be able to kill them. The key is itemizing in a way that enables to you get on top of them. Boots, phage, righteous glory, etc.

If you're against heimer, the early levels can be a pain. One trick you can do is to intentionally let a heimer tower hit you. If you've got second wind and dshield, you'll regen the damage, but minions will aggro to heimer. Level one, you can make less experienced heimer players take a lot of minion damage this way.

Aside from this, be willing to give up some cs and work to bait out the heimer e. If heimer's e is down, a significant portion of his burst damage and peel potential vanishes. Abuse it by abusing him. Itemization can be early mr first, since he's also squishy and base damage should be enough to kill him most of the time.

Renekton's abilities are each empowered on a 50 fury cast. Renekton gains 5 fury for each auto attack, gains fury for hitting enemies with non-empowered abilities, and also gains fury from auto-attacks using an empowered-w. A key thing to this matchup is being aware of his fury and playing around it carefully.

Additionally, he has a dash in his kit. Your q is signalled. Do not use your q if renekton still has e or you'll likely end up with him e'ing to dodge the blade, possibly to punish you by going into melee range to trade.

Renekton's typical trading pattern is to e through minions at you, auto w, q, e out. These short trades allow him to chunk you down slowly and abuse his own natural sustain in his q. Boneplating is good against this style of burst trading, take it.

Your cooldowns and renekton's are similar in length (aside from w, which favors you), but there's a difference between the two champions. He's completely reliant on his abilities. You aren't. Your passive means you win most extended trades. It is entirely possible for you to punish him if he extends poorly or even wastes a cooldown.

Most of your good fighting with him isn't going to be possible until around level 7 or 9. Renekton's designed to ruin your day before then. You can make this harder by putting off your damage. Early ninja tabi, prioritizing the ruby crystal over the longsword when building phage, etc. These things enable you to survive his damage output. And then you win the extended fight because, remember, you're darius. Your passive literally gives you a free bf sword and more.

As the game goes on, your ability to fight him should only get better, not worse.

Just remember, Darius isn't an early game champion. He's a mid-game champion. You don't win every laning phase. You can punish mistakes. But sometimes, the right choice is to farm it out to your powerspikes. Not every lane is about killing the other guy.

That's the sucky part about top lane is how much dominance counterpicks have in the lane. Heimer just wins vs a lot of melees and you can't do much about it. It's a painful lane to one trick in if your champ isn't super versatile like Camille so you should broaden your champion pool.

I love me some renekton. I found Darius pull to be disruptive and made my life hard. If I see the q animation I'm going to dash into you for a combo then dash away after it's finished. The pull makes that hard. He's hard to gank so I would probably tell my jungler to focus other lanes. If you go to drive the can ult and stun the champ that gets the aggro.

Heimer, Karma, and Victor are gonna bully you early. Buy lots of pots and play safe and ask for a gank. Even if you are behind on farm your base damage is easily high enough to get a kill with your jungler. You will probably get kited 1v1 though.

Renekton is a lane bully just like you, there is a good chance the lane will snowball in such a match-up. I would call it a skill match-up, just don't let him dash in and combo you for free, pull him back in and beat on him.

run flash/ghost and all-in Viktor at the earliest opportunity (around lvl 3 most likely). Viktor gets demolished by aggressive play and you're on a small timer to crush him out of the game before he gets Q augment and permakites you

just farm vs Karma she falls off hard on tank builds and won't be able to contest you late game when you're too bulky for her to hurt

dodge Heimer

Beating Renekton is all about playing around his Fury. Fight him when his stuff is on CD or before he gets Fury on the wave and avoid him when he's got a bar, definitely when he has 2.

You have to be respectful of Renekton when he is under his tower. He gets health from his ult and an aoe plus he's slippery and his stun is a lot of damage.

You can take him through as Darius with a bit of outplay.

Sorry I'm not a top main but I can suggest you to watch TF Blade and watch him on how he play etc. that's all I can suggest. Tho the best way to learn top is to play garen. ( tho if you don't find garen fun then don't do it)

Camille < Karma Sion < Heimerdinger Teemo < Renekton Camille < Viktor Seriously though, if you want to know counter picks just go on a website called U.gg and search up the champs you hate. Also you need to learn at least a couple more champs if you want to survive top.
