I didn't want to do this but, here goes... (please fix)
Greetings, summoners and fellow top mains,
Intro My name is McCringie, but you can call me Cringie. I've been holding off on writing this for a very long time, because it seems a bit controversial, and I don't want to start a ruckus--I just want some fixes.
Context ___Ever since Season 5, bruisers have become less and less viable, making the game unplayable if your jungler is having a bad time, or your bot lane. Top is not a very rewarding role, but it is played due to people like me wanting to solo lane, but be susceptible to the least ganks, therefore, allowing me to farm enough to eventually overpower my opponents. At least, that is the idea.
___As you might be able to see in the clip I have linked you, I spent TWO MINUTES fighting a tank, and I landed 95% of my abilites. This is unacceptable, and I feel as if it needs a hotfix, even. It's unrewarding to play the game when you are able to put your laner behind, but he builds full armor and becomes literally unkillable late game. I'd like the privilege to discuss this, and hopefully get it fixed ASAP.
___In a world where you want tanks to be viable in soloqueue, you must balance them around the champions you are wanting to counter them, or figure out a way to make the game balanced for soloqueue, but maintain the balance for competitive play, as I'm sure we all want a world where the pros play even the weakest champions today, making some of us onetricks enjoy it even more to see.
___I've been upset about this for quite some time, but removing true damage was the straw that broke the camel's back. It's unbelievable that someone on the live design team though it'd be a good idea to do this, as I'm sure it must be an accident. Please, hear out my recommendations and possible solutions, as a long-time League of Legends player would be happy to assist, while also possibly even bringing in more players, and bringing the old ones back.
___Keep in mind that these solutions are solely there to benefit all players, and if anyone has an issue with them, be quick to let me know why, and we can all, as a community, give Riot what we want in our game.
Solutions 1.
This is the most pondered solution I've had for a long time, so I'm going to start off with it.
I feel that the best solution to all of soloqueue's problems is going to result in more work for the balance team, as there should be more than one balance team because of this.
In my mind there should be two balance teams, one for soloqueue, and one for competitive play/flex queue. Competitive play is different than League of Legends because there is massive always-on communication, and that's why Ryze is better in it, yet worse in soloqueue. I'll give an example from before the latest rework on Ryze.
Imagine this. You're playing soloqueue, you throw up a 1 second root on an ADC in a teamfight, but they're being blocked by a tank so you can't E, then Q her. So the root goes away and you're done. Now, imagine this but with full, 5 way communcation. You tell your team beforehand you're going to root the ADC, then do so. Your entire team piles on them, they're lacking kites so they lose the teamfight. You win the game. That simple, really. I wouldn't lie.
My proposition is that you could have a team balance the game for soloqueue, buff the champions that need buffed, and nerf the champions that need nerfed, and once you find a sweet spot, you won't have to balance the game anymore--except maybe for a few bug fixes and new champion adjustments for the champions and who they affect, maybe jungle changes and things that liven up the game. You'll have your hands basically free.
Now, the second team would balance the game for competitive play and flex, as I'm sure that League of Legends players would enjoy being able to play on what the pros play on, plus, it'll actually give flex a lively playerbase.
This is a temporary solution, as it would only fix the problem temporarily, and eventually probably even lead to more
It's not news at all that bruisers are lacking in items. We need to make them actually able to do their job. Give them an item that works with their kit, we need something to penetrate armor better, or at least an armor penetrating rune.
I'm thinking the item would go a little like this
- 20% CDR
- 15% lifesteal or spell vamp (spell vamp preferred)
- 60 AD
Passive: Mitigate 2% armor penetration on ability hit or auto attack, up to 12. (max 24%) Passive: Undying When your passive is fully stacked, gain additional 12-36 MR and Armor, (based on level.)
Simple as that, really.
My least favorite solution, which is why I saved it for last.
Nerf tanks, redesign dragons, and give decent MR items to the game, or weaken magic penetration. That's really all I got.
Closing
Thank you very much for hearing me out, I never post in forums, in fact, this is my first time in 2 years even writing a recommendation for this game.
If you have any sort of changes that would suit you better, or would make you feel better as a player, please let me know so I can add it to the list if the community agrees on it.
Yours, Cringie.
