Changing Server region affects ping?

Hey guys, I'm currently a bronze player on the NA server. I actually live in India, so the lowest I've seen my ping go is about 150. The most stable value it usually sticks at is around 300. So I wanted to ask all the guys with the multiple accounts in multiple regions, does playing on a different server region affect your ping according to its distance from the actual place you live in? I got this idea when I was watching one of Cowsep's videos and he mentioned ping getting low since he came back home. I didn't get an exact idea of what he meant, hence the question. Please don't tell me to get a better ISP and all that. I'm still a student, so I use the college network. I just want to know if switching to EU might be a smarter choice for ping improvement due to its closeness to India. Thanks for any possible answers, Cheers

Yeah, that's actually the entire point of having multiple servers. Servers closer to where you are = lower ping

Put it this way, if you live in India, play on the EUW server.

An old thread reported the following values: North America (230 ms); EU West (180 ms); Garena (70 ms). Excluding Garena (you wouldn't' be able to transfer your account), the European server is definitely the best choice, but you're still going to experience high latency. As a reference, I live in Italy and I play with 36 ms on a 100 MB fiber connection, while I got about 69 ms back when I still had a 20 MB ADSL. So, best case scenario you'll play with 100 ms. Also, be aware that the average EUW player speaks English about as well as a domestic parrot: that is, getting your point across will sometimes be hard.

Ping changes with server region and if you are from India the nearest server is Garena-singapore. Problem in that server is you dont have draft pick for normal 5v5 SR games and very high queue time for first 30-40 levels. Eu servers are not really nearby, but are ok to play. You can either transfer the account or create new accounts. Some champions who are mechanical are hard to play, but better overall.

I was wondering if its possible that once internet latency gets better in the future will that make it better connection to other servers? Such as how SpaceX and OneWeb are doing with internet satellites orbiting close as 310 miles (500km) instead of GEO satellites that we use currently use average of 600ms compare to SpaceX and OneWeb which is low as 10ms-30ms. Especially in your own regions instead of getting like 70ms+ I'm not sure if this makes any sense to you guys but its interesting if latency gets very low for other servers to play in. What you guys think?
