Volibear: Thoughts on Leagues Polar Bear

So I recently played an ARAM where I was given Volibear . Not having any prior knowledge on hand, that match went terrible & wasn't very fun. Now one thing I do have a habit of doing in League is if I find something that I don't understand, I try figuring out & seeing whether or not I actually like a specific champion or not. One thing I know Volibear is good at is Jungling, however I am abit nervous trying out champions in the Jungle for the first time so I took him to toplane. After a few games there, I do like the champion. However, I feel like he 'Feels Bad' to play as someone like say Fiora , Yasuo or maybe Camille can just dance around him up there & stomp on him (I played against a Plat 5 Fiora as Volibear, didn't go well). I have had good matchups up there, one such match up was against an Ornn & I believe we went just about even. Overall, I like Volibear as a champion & will continue to play him. Although I am curious if He's going to be receiving any work in the future as I feel like he's really lacking at the moment. Maybe they could do a small update on par with that of Azir or Xin Zhao until they get him on the VGU waiting list.

What are your thoughts on him?

He's not very dynamic or particularly strong, which usually leaves him in the dust. If he's buffed and gets stronger, then he'll consistently do well, which isn't a good thing balance-wise. I think he should get some form of a re-work, but I don't know if that's on Riot's radar right now. He's really straight-forward, he just runs up and fights in hopes he lives long enough for his DPS to best the enemy, 'cuz that's really all he has: DPS and sustain. With League wanting to be faster-paced and flashy plays with slick mobility, he's kinda left being a bit sluggish and too slow in comparison.

He's better top because he has no reliable gapcloser. You need ghost for voli jg. That's the problem with bruisers. They are slow and just immobile in general unless your shyvana since you have a dash one you hit lvl 6.

He's insane in the jungle. After he got that W cooldown buff on jungle monsters, I had a straight up 100% winrate across 5 games with a combined score something stupid like 60/10/55. I used to have a picture somewhere. I used to do On Hit Voli too, on some of the earlier incarnations of feral flare and devourer. Nothing like a straight up Baron solo because you have 110 stacks. Good times.

If I were to play him now it would be a more typical juggernaut build. He procs TF/IBG very easily, so that's something to consider.

At first I thought the title said "League's first %%%% bear", and even though I knew that couldn't be right, I'm gonna roll with it. How about we make it so that Voli gets 3x as much movement speed when Qing towards enemy champions who are smaller than him?
