Riot Fails to Make a Decent 10 Player Game

Why must any of us wait a flippin' century to load into this stupid, broken-a$$ game.... just to be disappointed by toxic mates, toxic enemies, horrible server lag, broken ladders/ ranking system, and cut-&-paste champions that are (by default) more OP than the last?

Look at literally any other game that exists today and it takes 30 seconds (TOPS) to load into a "fully functional" game that can host 20 to 100 players w/ more complex graphics, gaming mechanics, etc. while a single game of league takes about 5min to champ select, 10min to load, and 30-60min to develop a cancer of your choice... after the obligatory brain hemorage, of course. Oh, and your blood pressure must at least be high enough that 1st flame causes an instantaneous stroke and, possibly, physical damage to an innocent PC that couldn't defend itself from being thrown out of a 2nd-story window.

But I digress....

Riot's LEAGUE is a very simple concept (3 lane tug of war with 10 players, MAX), and yet, it is extremely subpar on the most technical aspects that make a game functional. Every patch, I see updates on "oh we're TRYING to fix this or that, but hey, here's a couple flashy skins to distract you from the fact that our base game is complete garbage."

YOUR game is buggy as hell, and I'm tired of having teammates DC every time I wanna play ranked!! Focus on the foundations of league or you will see everything you built over the last decade collapse to something as "special" as fortnite.... and no one wants that, right? Right.

  1. Why not add more servers to drop PING across the board? Because obviously your West Coast and Chicago thing ain't enough anymore, and you OBVIOUSLY HAVE THE MONEY with all of the new skins, emotes, events coming out every other week!!! Stop wasting it ALL on cosmetics!! Is that too much to ask?!! I know this approach works, because the game improved tremendously when chicago servers went live years ago. It ws a big deal, and it needs to happen again. I'm sure the number of accounts hosted has grown exponentially, and will continue to do so if you stop and really take care of this issue before it gets worse - and it will get worse over time.

  2. Why not come out with completely Original Champs that are NOT just flashy re-skins / copies of previous champs (Ex: Sylas = I copy your abilities; Neeko = I copy your skins; literally every other new champ = morgana stun, untargetable evade, lv 9000 dmg w/o cs or kill lead, immortality... need I go on?). You have an immense creative community that is growing dramatically everyday.... Give crowd sourcing a try and pay those gifted creators that really bring this game to life some love (rather than your washed-up, employee has-beens who have clearly ran out of ideas and need to be cast into the fire.) Remember now, it's competition that drives business and success (both inside and outside of your headquarters). Grow responsibly.

  3. What turns people off most about your game? The way I see it, it's a very strong drug on par with heroin. The game itself is addictive, because it's simple and can be rewarding when you totally dominate your opponents, but stepping back to see the big picture and you'll notice that majority of the time spent on League is NOT fun. It's purgatory. It's endless waiting in a sea of toxicity waiting for the small glimmer of hope to completely trash your opponent, because riot stacked your team against their's, and you get to play on God Mode for whole 2min before the enemy FF's. .... and then it's right back to the waiting simulator. ugh.

In short, fix the game at its roots (the technical skeleton that makes the game,at the very least, functional), then focus on the gameplay/ balancing, then reduce the toxicity, then go buck wild with the cosmetics.... You're big enough of a company to see this through. Chop chop.

Listen to your customers, we pay you afterall.

You realize there are different teams within Riot that work on different things, right? The skins team has nothing to do with the game itself.

  1. They refuse to split the NA playerbase, end of story. It's not a matter of cost; they hammered out deals with shitloads of ISPs and built an entirely new infrastructure across the country, dedicated only to the game.

  2. This is a matter of personal opinion on your part, there are loads of relatively unique champions in the game. There are only so many different things champions can do anyways, and you can only reskin those things so many different ways. Eventually it all boils down to very basic stuff - DoT/Hot, point n click damage / heal, steroid, AoE damage / heal, shield, hard / soft CC, etc. And attacking the designers isn't going to do anything except get your thread locked by mods - they don't tolerate that shit.

  3. If you've got so much of a problem with the way things are, stop playing the game like the rest of us that have a problem with the way things have been.

And as 4SC said before, not releasing skins doesn't do anything whatsoever to help make the rest of the game better. It just means Riot doesn't make any money in the meantime, which will eventually cause parties unrelated to things going wrong with the game to not be able to put food on the table.

NEWS FLASH FOR PEOPLE WHO CAN'T READ:

  1. Thread is about: a) Game "Infrastructure" being subpar (laggy battles, buggy as hell clients, 24/7 DCing teammates, etc.); thus, making game unplayable/ tilting by itself b) NEW Champions are literally CUT & PASTED from old ones in their abilities, but granted OP_GOD MODE (Untargetable, Invincible, Hyper DMG, etc.) c) Loading times just to get into the game have increased dramatically (HENCE "waiting simulator")... Like, dedicate 8-15min just to START a game d) Toxicity within this community hasn't changed since conception, thanks to smurfing, boosting, and in general, lack of punishment. Ex: Games "reported" to have flat out hate speech (like k**, FT, N, R*****, etc.), are not granted instant feedback by tribunal - I know this because I reported others, as recently a today, and have yet to receive instant feedback

Everything discussed in the base agrument of this thread is the game itself...

Absolutely NOTHING was mentioned about CHAMPION SKINS ever being a problem. That's literally superficial and doesnt effect gameplay at all. IF you can't come up with valid retorts to the arguments made, then don't comment. Otherwise, you're just fanboys.

These problems have been pin-pointed specifically to catch attention, gather support for a fix, and warrant an overhaul to IMPROVE the game. I could care less about the random surveys that pop up after games. If it's not about HOW TO IMPROVE THE GAME, then I'm not interested.

Solutions Presented Earlier: a) Fix the server lag, clients, etc. to improve PING, loading times, and ultimately the gameplay itself b) Champions are becoming increasingly unoriginal; perhaps try crowd sourcing c) Improve the Tribunal: distribute punishments MORE frequently and "as the offense occurs".... instant feedback reports are known to NOT work

That is all.
