Because Akali's rework release was a very controversial one, getting lots and lots of hate because of her unbalanced gameplay. But now, she got an huuuuuge boost of popularity, one so huge that the vast majority of her new fans aren't even League players anymore. Just like the fired employee mentioned, he is proud to see her this popular, but he also use this popularity to call out Riot for their huge problems and despisable actions. You see, it is far more efficient to show Riot's true face to non-players, since those have much more impact on social medias. Why? Because of the sole reason that the LoL community has the reputation of being human beings so toxic that their opinions don't even matter. Don't believe me? Look at the David Z Klein dilemma : the sexism problems were almost completely ignored because the only "oppressed" people were part of the league community. Then, when the problem got so huge that it leaked out of the game's community, Riot quickly put a stop to it by firing David, just because they knew that their reputation is far more easily hurt by the kind of people who don't care about LoL initially. This is why this employee is calling out Riot now; he knows for sure that his words are going to hit a lot more if the world outside League who got introduced to KDA gets involved into teaching Riot a lesson
