As much as it kills me inside, I probably won't be buying the next Elder Scrolls game

With all the creation club/ paid mods fiascos going on, I just can't remain a true fan. I know that it is just optional now, but I just know that deep down that in the next game they are going to purposely cut content from the base game, and throw it into the creation club as a greedy attempt to squeeze out more money and it just sickens me.

I miss the old days, before they could half ass a game and patch it later, before all this pay2win/ freemium crap took hold of the industry. Yeah maybe the games weren't pretty looking back then, but in those days the only way you could sell a game was by just making a good game to begin with. Making a new concept that catches attention and is addictive and rewarding by being fun, and not by forking out more money.

I hate how the gaming industry has shifted focus from making good games to begin with, to "how high can we build a paywall without pissing them off too much"

They they will literally lie to our faces with "oh, were just giving them more options". "We need more funding to support the game". Yet they keep adding more and more different ways to increase the paywalls and make them worse. It just fucking infuriates me, and it sucks because it wont get any better, they're going to keep pushing till they find something that we give in to, then they're going to ask for a little more.

It won't ever fucking end. ;_;

It's sad that the community has to fix bugs...

And just think, you, as the player, let them become like that.

So did the majority of the playerbase.

And now you complain, when all us tinfoil hat wearing freaks said exactly that would happen.

Maybe you'll listen next time.

indie games don't do any of those things.

it takes time to find them, but there's a huge number of indie games that fall between AAA Money Squeezes and Steam Greenlight Garbage.

And yeah the elder scrolls money train feels like its slowly drying up imo. Tbh I haven't touched their stuff since the disastrous ESO launch (I know they've fixed it, but it lost my interest). Now they've got all these damn skyrim rereleases that still have vanilla launch bugs...

Honestly its sad, they achieved critical success and have been coasting for a long time. Its w/e though its their company not mine.

I guess you'll just have to buy the version of Skyrim that comes out in 2025 instead

Quitting a series because you dont support Fan Made DLC?

I mean, Honestly, Creation Club isn't That Bad (Atleast the idea behind it isnt)

The problem with Creation Club is how they went About it.

And i dont see how this is gonna affect on the game itself.

In the end, Its DLC that you can bet there will be free and/or better versions out probably before it actually hits CC, And even then, You'd be more hard-pressed that Bethesda doesn't Heck it up by making the game itself so Earth Shatteringly Heck that mods are the only way to fix it. (Calling you out, FO:NV And your ability to somehow crash with 0 mods installed on modern-day computers)

######Also, If you'd like to know what i mean by "The problems with Creation Club", Its not that the idea itself is bad. The idea of a game dev Supporting modders is fan-Hecking-tastic, The problem is how they went about it. Instead of doing a %based cut of the money gained, The modders are given a flat amount, And Bethesda puts a cost on it, And there's no further transaction between the two. This means that Modders Could just make some polished turd and put it on the game (IE: Horse Power Armor) And that in the end, You'd be more hardpressed to research the paid mods first, Infact, If you want that, Look up ESO on Youtube, They already have some vids on some Paid for Mods on youtube, And can further explain the problems of the Creation club. PEACE

If they go the route of paid mods, the next Elder Scrolls game had better be a free campaign otherwise.

At least then, people would be less pissed about the paid mods because it would end up a Free To Play model; given that Bethesda actually patched consistently.

I bought Skyrim on the first day of release but I'm not going to do so with ES6. If others think it's a steaming pile with all the concerns mentioned happening, then I'm just not going to bother with it sadly.

paid mods is a good idea in theory but it won't work

ADC Bard12/10/2017, 9:41:44 PM1 votes

Meanwhile, Nintendo has been doing that ever since pokemon existed.

"You want all pokemon? Too bad! You need to buy ALL THE VERSIONS, and a 2nd gameboy and a linking cable !"

Hey guys let us try to remember we are all family here and heated debating is fine but lets leave the heat for the subject itself and not the people making the comments.

The next TES game will likely be in 2020 or even 2023. If things keep going the way they are, the industry might see some big changes happening soon.

With the quality of some Skyrim mods, and the huge plans for some that are in progress, there is really no reason to move away from Skyrim than to experience the next part of the story.

After ES:O and the creation club I might just keep modding Skyrim and watch a lets play.

Audhulma12/10/2017, 5:02:35 AM1 votes

They can try to put content behind a mod paywall with the creation club, but they'll fail miserably as long as free modding exists. Whatever they put up will just be done better by free modders, and they'll be shooting themselves in the foot by pissing off their consumers at the same time.
