Next Season Doesnt seem interesting

Next season with the rune rework seems like nothing much will change. I will still use electrcrute as an ap mage in the midlane. I will still do the same thing that I used to. Other runes are not as appealing and it doesnt really offer much interesting things.

Maybe it is just me. Diversity is getting removed next patch so in all it is just a way of removing diversity and making metas linear and decided at champ select.

Comet is better than Electrocute for a lot of mages

Still going to be running boot leg thunderlords on Kat and pretty much any other mid, so idk. Nothing is changing for me mid except maybe trying hex flash to troll lanes all day. ADCs are still going to be strong, especially with that one rune that temporarily increases the AS cap. It'll add small amounts of flavour to the game since some of the masteries are actually a bit interesting, a couple of cheesy strats will probably come up with hex flash. I guess the whole thing is for trying new play styles, which is irrelevant when you've already found one you like and don't want to run meteor on your champion like someone else suggested.

Also why's the thread getting downvoted lol?

Most people are really excited to try out all the new runes.

Honestly I think there is a decent variety to picks that are viable against particular team comps. Some of the picks that people see in competitive or as being 'meta' aren't as useful if an enemy team builds a comp correctly and knows how to counter. I've been trying out all sorts of hogwash and some of it is fun, although quite challenging.

The fact that the entire rune system is being changed and you've already resigned yourself to "eh, just more of the same" might be a sign that you're not willing to try out new things to discover what works best for you instead of relying on the community to tell you what is "opopzomg".

Then again, you could be 100% correct and most of the game will remain somewhat stagnant just with updated graphics for mechanics that have existed for the past few seasons. I'm still leaning towards the "cup is half full" side of the spectrum, though!

Electrocute seems a little shitty compared to Comet on anyone with more than one cc or anyone with a decent duration cc really simply due to how often Comet is up

Also you're locked into using domination as your primary tree which has runes best for bruisers/assassins with some that'd make decent support secondaries like eye collector or the vision ones and given thats the case if you want electrocute you're often going to be forced into sorcery secondary if you need things like mana or cdr

Assassin mage hybrids will probably still get use out of electrocute though I don't think its a guaranteed choice, though I do find it weird there isn't a real alternative to deathfire touch so you really only have 2 mage keystones unless you're a support mage

It will be interesting until LCS starts and all the metasheep just copy whatever runes pros use and rage at anyone who doesn't do the same. It will be league of thunderlords again but with something else.

Certain runes will be stronger and the champs that best ultilize the OP runes will be the new top picks.

Or you could use Meteor if you want to play more of a poke based style, or Predator if you wanted to roam a lot. This is, of course, ignoring the more 'out there' ones like Press the Attack (which is currently 3 hits for true damage + bonus damage vs that champion for a while), or Phase Rush, or Kleptomancy.
