They are basically ranged poke characters that go into melee to assassinate. Key difference is the tools I think, but I'm not sure if those define thier identities or are subsets of the poke/assassin character.
Elise can’t really poke. Her range is too short and she has long cool downs. The key difference between the 3 is how Tanky they can build. Jayce and Elise can become bruisers, but Nidalee just builds damage.
Elise and Nidalee actually have execute moves that do more damage the lower your opponents HP gets. I would argue the only reason Jayce can be lumped in with them is his toggleable stance that makes him melee instead. His melee kit is more around disengaging from other melees so he can go back to poking, whereas Nidalee and Elise's kits are built to finish fights in the melee.
