Bring Back Hide and Seek

Just sent in a ticket to Rito and they told me to come here to try and get traction so let's do this.

I've been playing this game since 2012 and my fondest memory has to be queuing up for hide and seek lobbies. I know bringing back the crystal scar is unrealistic, but I have thought of a way for Riot to re-implement the ability to play hide a seek. The practice tool in the new training area of league lets you disable minions spawning and towers firing on summoners rift. By doing both these things summoners rift can be turned into a pretty decent hide and seek grounds, the lane towers provide vision such as the outer circle used to but don't fire, jungle camps can be used to jump to, and you can just rule that no one be allowed to sit inside base or around inhib aria. I'm sure riot also has the ability to take away all the other tools ( to prevent the host from cheating) and easily make a custom map of summoners rift where the only difference is the towers and minions, but I digress.

In short, the easiest way I see this coming back to League would be to allow use of the practice tool version of the rift as an option when making custom games, allowing for friends to host and create open custom lobbies with friends or others on a map where hide and seek is at least possible for those who still wish to play.

I am really not sure how many people remember or still care to play a version of this old fan-made game mode but all I'm asking is that some rito devs out there see this and at least try to give an old league fanboy a way to show his friends the "best" way to play league. :D

I don't know why they removed the crystal scar from custom lobbies for people who want to play dominion with friends or hide n seek...

I enjoyed the fan mode and back in the day I even played a couple games of hide and seek on SR and there were some pretty big issues that popped up that prevented it from taking off.

  1. It's very big. Unless you limit it to the jungle only there are many places one could hide, such as in the bushes close to towers. Yes in The Crystal Scar you could also hide in lane bushes and in the dark areas of the capture points but at least there it felt reasonable and made sense. Doing the same on SR is sadly unreasonable and unfair.
  2. No passive XP. Dominion gave passive XP whereas Classic doesn't. The only way I found to remedy that somewhat was to have everyone farm to lv.6 then start the actual H&S clock once all 6s recalled. After that Hiders could only gain further XP from non-buff jungle monsters and weren't allowed to leech XP from lane minions. Of course back then Brambleback and Golem had 2 minions, there was no rift herald iirc and the one and the only dragon had no passive buffs.
  3. If you don't start the 45 minute clock (45 instead of 40 to try to compensate) after all lv.6s recall then depending on when everyone hits 6 the seekers are at a major disadvantage, arguably more-so than on The Crystal Scar. It's also tricky and cumbersome to try to remember what the exact stop time is compared to on TCS.

So while it is possible to play H&S on SR it requires allot of lengthy setup to make it work efficiently.

Hell yeah bring it back!!! I loved Dominion in general cause it was a quick game if you didn't have much time to play or were waiting for your friends to finish a normal.

And hide and seek was just so much fun. Personally my friends had a no invis champs rule. I would love to be able to play on summoners rift and have maybe a voting system during champ select for match rules in place of bans.

Like maybe, no resurrecting allowed, no invis, no healing allies, no speeding up allies, no slowing seekers, no shielding, no exhaust, seeker gets # clairvoyance, each hider gets # clairvoyance. Just kinda throwing things out there. Maybe like 3 rules a match so it's different every time.

Definitely would have to add a way for everyone to level. And remove minions/tower aggro. I think it would be cool if it didn't show whether the seeker has done dragon/baron. And make jungle camps unattackable by hiders but still targetable for jumping onto.

Would be cool too if hiders made a bit more gold per second than seekers since hiders main goal is survival not kills.

Last I think it would be cool to add summoner spells specific to hide and seek. Like maybe a shroud you can cast on yourself or an ally for a brief moment. Definitely clairvoyance, but also just for a split moment so it's not over powered. A ghost spell that maybe speeds you up based on missing health. Just basically things to make hiders stealthier and seekers more deadly.

I was talking about Hide And Seek with somebody In a game of Aram last night and about how much I miss it. for a long time I used to log on on and play hide and seek for 6 hours straight, it was the most fun I have had playing league of legends.

I like to see the good times roll back on League of Legends and not just the TFT stuff that I don't really follow through 9.13 and 9.14.

I basically never comment on the boards but this was the best modality ever invented for the game, including all rotating game modes. Rly hope they can bring hide and seek back.

I didn't start playing until 2017 so I never got to experience hide and seek, but I would like Riot to do something like this as it seems pretty fun :)

Thankfully urf is coming back in a few days (from the time of this posting) but according to what I’ve read, they don’t want to bring it back again because of the “burnout” of playing it too much and players don’t return once they remove urf.

Could this “burnout” simply be that urf is way better then the actual game and people don’t return because the main game drags on WAY too long, the players are extremely toxic and it’s just boring in general? Nooooo of course not. Let’s blame urf instead.

This company has absolutely no idea what they are doing. You have thousands of people posting in official forums, reddit, surrender@20, YouTube etc etc BEGGING for urf to be available 24/7 and we get ignored every single time. But hey let’s make TFT instead

I've never played this mode(wasn't here that far back), but it seems fun even if I don't know how it works.
