there's a pretty cute new girl at work

thing is I haven't dated in a pretty good while so I've forgotten how to put myself out there. She's put up a few drawings of Ahri on her desk, so I know she at least knows League, but I don't really want to use video games as my in, because that's geek shit

What should I do?

introduce yourself and say hi. You already have a basis for what she likes, maybe ask if she'd like to get coffee sometime or something.

I've found that being extremely honest is the best path to take when asking someone out. Best of luck!

definitely use it as your way in. I met my boyfriend on League of Legends and that's how we bonded. Introduce yourself, take her out for a drink or something relaxing or something and ask about her pictures and see if Ahri is her favorite. If she obviously likes Ahri that much to put her on her desk she much like League quite a bit ;)

You can't do worse than me. I'm 26, and the only girl who has ever flirted with me wanted to use me to be rebellious against her mother. Once her mother became cool, the calls until 2am and the sneaking out came to a swift stop. Every other girl/woman has friend zoned me. That said, the only advice I have grounds to give you is "good luck," and I will wish just that for you.

Protip: don't.

It's not the best idea to get emotionally involved with your coworkers.
