So I called Riot discussion board mods out on several of their horrific practices, and you know what

Here is some of the moderation messages that were deemed "unfit" by the cancerous overlords: #1 Hey MoePhat,

We've recently removed your post for violating the Boards Universal Rules and sub-board guidelines, which prohibit the posting of low-effort and non-constructive content.

Your removed content:

So now Riot removes you if you don't enjoy getting mocked, disgusting

While we appreciate your enthusiasm and can understand how you could want to get your idea out there as quickly as possible, we ask that you spend a bit more time on your post and keep your content constructive.

I'd like to emphasize that this is not a warning; however, please take some time to familiarize yourself with the Boards Universal Rules, as well as the guidelines for any sub-board you intend to post in before you do so.

If you have any questions about this moderation action, don't hesitate to reach out to the Boards Moderation Team via:

all of these posts were about previous mods removing me from talking about people that were blatantly harassing me r cheating in-game. just kind of annoying to see people doing nothing about stuff like that, and going so far as to attack me instead. sad.

Chinese overlords have spoken, if you speak ill of the overlords you get silenced, then banned. Thus the suppression of freedom continues.

Hey there!

As I had mentioned in one of those posts, I was addressing your concerns about removals on your account in a separate thread. You had created 4 threads in the span of 4 minutes, so had removed all but one thread you had made regarding moderator actions; in that one thread, I had responded to 2 of your complaints that you had brought up. Your removal messages could have been worded differently to clarify why I had removed them (spamming), and I had indicated why in one of your discussions. Additionally, none of your removals carried a warning, as I assumed you felt like that was the best way to grab our attention. Rest assured, anytime someone has a disagreement about an action, we do review these and try to comment on them.

As mentioned in your removal messages, these avenues are ideal for discussing board actions.

“Low effort and unconstructive posting”

But the board mods are unironically the biggest offenders of this. Some of them literally have no idea what they’re talking about yet they judge what’s considered shitposting?

Remember when they tried that gameplay+ board but then decided that rather than Elo, the mods decide what post go in there? Yea turns out pretty much none of the grandmaster or challenger players who actually wanted to use it got their post through but little green highlight silver Timmy approve his own post!

What I don't get, is that the normal player wouldn't normally be bothered with their post being removed. The first thoughts that would go through their mind would be,

  • "Oh shit! Maybe I should refactor my post and maybe it won't get pulled." OR
  • "Ah okay. Perhaps I'll put more effort into my post next time." OR
  • "It's not a big deal, it wasn't that huge of a topic anyways."

And by more effort, their post will be written in such a way that it adheres to the rules. One that doesn't contrive chaos.

Everyone fucking knows that Riot isn't the definition of a perfect company, people complain about the happenings in LoL and IRL all the time. But to take it another step further into accusing Riot for conspiring against players is harassing an entity which is no different than naming and shaming only to then take out your frustrations on the mods?

  1. So now Riot removes you if you don't enjoy getting mocked, disgusting
  2. So Riot is punishing people for calling out cheaters now, with no basis eithe
  3. So I was getting abused by someone in disscussion forums, and Riot banned ME

Folks like you seriously need to chill and BE BETTER! You're acting like Riot or the volunteer mods are out to get you.

The Mods are only doing their duties to make sure the posts are within reason of the 'Community Guideline', a set of rules all board-goers, INCLUDING YOU, can agree to sticking to.

You calling out the mods because your post got shut down as if it were some kind of BIG SCOOP TO PUT OUT ON YOUTUBE, is not an act that benefits the boards community. You are merely naming and shaming just because you can't get over the fact that you cannot better yourself to bring your posts to adhere to the Community Guidelines.

i've noticed alot of threads were being deleted/censored lately. i posted in like 2 or 3 aphelios threads and almost all of them just disappeared. i'm not really surprised as the mods on riot boards have always done this its just not gotten so extreme lately.

Imbetterthanmoe11/29/2019, 8:04:50 PM6 votes

Community mods shouldve never been introduced. Maybe they arent bad people but when players see other players with power over them it just creates a hatred. I mean i can agree with that hatred too. To me it just seems like power hungry kids wasting their life bossing around other kids on the internet. It was just a bad idea on riots part, they should really just moderate these threads themselves because they are literally getting paid to work for riot.

Honestly, I'm wondering what the PURPOSE of moderators even are. For example- enforcing the rule about "low effort posts" seems totally useless and arbitrary. Who gives a shit if a post is 'low effort'? Who gets hurt by that? What if I think the justification for removing a post is low effort- should I report that for violating one of the universal board rules?

Besides that specific example, I just don't get some of the recent mod action. I don't pay super close attention to boards, nor have I been around for super long. But in the past handful of months, I've seen way more seemingly-arbitrary post removals, more conflict between mods and posters, and more people hesitant to post anything remotely negative out of fear of being silenced via mod.

I wish there were a more clear and productive way for people to communicate with moderators besides just bitching about them, and I wish there were more concrete justifications from mods about how posts break rules (regardless of what we think of the rule. that's a different topic). Is there a system for removed posts to be appealed and re-examined? If so, it might need some revamping, since so many people are disagreeing about post removal standards. If not, well, I think there should be one. Surely there are more solutions than just whining and bitching on boards- from both sides.

Memes and games is that way

{quoted}

all of these posts were about previous mods removing me from talking about people that were blatantly harassing me r cheating in-game.

And why shouldn't such posts be removed? They look to be somewhere between naming-and-shaming and rabble-rousing, offering nothing constructive or useful.

ModRowanstar11/30/2019, 3:58:44 AM4 votes

SO idk about some of the comments below the OP, but I do know that there were many other postings that were low effort. Now, in memes and games a single sentence is fine, but in a serious board, posting something with no ability for ppl to discuss it is what caused the removal. So my suggestion is explain your opinion so that it can be better understood.

Riot fucking sucks.

inb4 ban.

Fact. if NB3 can message a guy for a BAN. your gona tell me no one on the boards has any riot contacts. lies they feed us to stfu.

Janakin11/30/2019, 4:24:24 PM3 votes

Mods here are simply washed-up. They think they know what is "right", but in reality, they have pathetic intelligence and even worse education. (Hi mods, I really don't care if you remove this, just wanted you to know what you are ;-))

Azurereaper12/1/2019, 9:30:15 AM2 votes

Yup had a few threads censored because... something something... sexual content?

Who? What? When? Where? HOW?

RacoonHunter11/29/2019, 10:06:05 PM2 votes

eh not surprising when people like captian monk, an lpp member, keeps getting a chat restricted for typing strategies out In chat and people getting 14 days without any previous warnings on their behavior.

riot needs to seriously redo their mod and player behavior bots because it's getting out of hand

G0blinSlay3r12/1/2019, 1:10:29 AM1 votes

Tencent needs to keep manipulation out of our culture, our games and our communities. i have been warning you all. and you all chose the downvote button over hearing me out.

OneMustFall11/30/2019, 8:09:11 AM1 votes

In reality you should just be banned but the Mods are too afraid to pull the trigger on banning people I think. No one wants to drop the hammer on the cretins spewing negativity everywhere because people will feel like they've lost their freedom to be open and say what they want and this board is the "Last bastion of freedom" out there.

It's really time to drain the swamp, Mods. Grow a pair and start delivering some divine justice.
