Placements MMR

So I was placed Silver 4 today, (7/10 wins in placements), which is all fine and well. What's not so great is the aftermath of my success in placements. Despite being placed in silver 4 I'm playing with/against high gold/low plat players. Normally that wouldn't be an issue since the the teams should be fairly balanced, but every game (3 so far) that I've played has been incredibly one sided. We're losing by 10-15+ kills and 3-5+ towers per game. This is pretty demoralizing to someone that's just started playing ranked, I'm not sure if this is a common practice, but it feels pretty broken to me.
