It's literally 90°. It was sunny 6 minutes ago. WTF is a tornado barreling down the highway at breakneck speeds.

Someone who is weather smart please fucking explain this! I honestly thought tornados only formed during storms.

I hate Mississippi weather...

Tornadoes occur when the temperatures in the upper atmosphere are colder than the temperatures below. That's why tornadoes and hurricanes tend to occur most during the summer time. The cool air has a tendency to sink, and warm air has a tendency to rise, so when the cooler air starts sinking, warms up, then starts rising again, you begin to get a swirl of air in a cyclical pattern in the atmosphere. If it happens long enough and fast enough, it starts churning into a violent tornado or other kind of storm.

I think that storms can form pretty quickly(40-60 mins), especially when it’s super hot, cold air is mixing with hot and Janna

Good luck, keep yourself save.

Is it humid out? Humidity plays a big role in Thunderstorm/Tornado development. Tornadoes usually spawn from what's called a "SuperCell", which is basically a Powerful Thunderstorm with strong winds & possibly hail.

If it's still sunny out (no clouds) and there are no storms in your area, you might be looking at a Dustdevil/Haydevil. These are extremely weak & pose no real danger.
