I know we're encroaching on their territory and all but they can fk your shit up and you can't do anything to them. They also generally aren't scared of people and won't back down so all you can do is take preventative measurements to dump them off on some other poor sod.

Leave out raccoon traps, bury/trash bag the bodies. If they approach use a shovel and a well placed swing to the top of their head. Measures that prevent raccoons from fucking up your shit doesn't really dump them on anyone else because they are everywhere. We've been encroaching in their territory since the 1950's, many other animals have adapted to leave human environments alone but animals like ants and raccoons still slip through the cracks. They are pests and must be dealt like such.
This is why we have brooms.
OP and others must have never lived in an Asian countries where stray cats and dogs are everywhere. Or in like Australia where in rural towns they have to deal with all sort of shit from spiders larger than your face or snakes sneaking into your home from the cracks at night. And I'm sure there are a lot more places where they deal with much worse than raccoons.
Raccoons are not the end of the world and some kill or be killed situation, you know.
I'd rather pet a wild raccoon than have a conversation with half the assholes in this game.|
EDIT: I've also actually "tamed" several raccoons and wild animals.
