I was trying to climb on the rank as everybody else. I was on solo/duo. After so many troll/AFK/feeder games I wanted to try flex. (been playing flex alone lol) After 10-20 games I never seen a troll/AFK/feeder in my games. So I kept playing it. Even though I was Gold 4 on my solo/duo, I hit Plat 4 recently (finished gold 2 at the end of the season tho), while doing that I improved a lot. I believe I can hit higher leagues on the next season. But what is the difference between solo and flex, why people don't care about it? Aren't they still both ranked?
About the new ranked season, I know our elo would get reset (softly) but how softly? let's say you are in a elo hell and you are getting 15lp for each win. would your elo hell be removed also?
About the professional league, You can't just go and join SKT T1 (or other great teams) all of a sudden, they need a reason to hire you. How can you start if you don't have friends to make team? Is there anyway to join a lower team before you actually hit to the leagues like LCS. I know Plat 4 is not enough, don't judge me but can't you find a team with plat on low leagues and then transfer to another team if they are interested in you or do you have to be at least master? (I'll try to be at least on plat on both solo/duo and flex next ranked season tho, I know you can't be gold on solo and plat on flex and dream to join a professional team.)
Flex queue rating is in the minds of most players less valuable than solo queue rating. It's like 3v3 rating. Do you care about your 3v3 rating? Didn't think so. This impression that flex queue elo is worth less comes first and foremost from the fact that lots of players get boosted in flex queue. They pay a higher elo player to multi queue with them in flex queue to get them a higher rating than they would have been able to achieve on your own, so that they can get better end of season rewards.
So back in the days the soft reset worked as follows: (Your current elo (lets say 1800) + 1200)/2 = your new starting line (in this case 1500). However no one but Riot knows how it ACTUALLY works. What we know however is that at the start of the new season after your first 10 placement matches you get put into a lower league than you actually are. Lets say 1500elo from our example = Gold 5 0LP, and lets say we finished out 10 placement matches going 5-5, meaning that we are where we started at, at 1500elo. This would mean that if you were placed into Gold 5 you'd start the season by gaining and losing the same amount of LP per win, because you got placed in the rating your elo belongs into. Riot's system however would put you into Silver 2. This way, because your elo is higher than your rating, you will earn more LP per win than you lose on a loss. This way everyone but the very worst rated bronze 5 players start every new season off in "elo heaven".
A pro team wouldn't even look in your general direction unless you're at least top 50 challenger in solo queue.
