is that all the people who are too toxic to have a bit of cartoony fun in the game are leaving because "muh realism" or something.

When did the League forums devolve into Overwatch forums?

Cartoony fun is one thing, but Overwatch was never supposed to be quite at that level. Overwatch has a classiness to it, and is executed as a highly futuristic world that's on the verge of utopia. The art style is whimsical, mainly because that style will age way better than realism, but the actual content and characters were somewhat believable and explainable via science with a tad of mysticism in some cases. Overall, it's a beautiful sci-fi game that was lodged to a large degree in reality. Then they decided to Disney it up with talking hamsters, and that just completely jumped all kind of sharks. Winston was already an anthropomorphic animal that could talk, and while it was a stretch, it wasn't odd for a future reality like Overwatch (nor was it too weird since he was a primate). Hammond is just too much, and his introduction really shakes the faith you have in the world Overwatch was building, because he shows that there's no qualms with just making whatever the hell they want. He doesn't fit the setting, and he is just so overly ludicrous as a concept.
