Not because it's bad but because ADCs are idiots that don't know how Relic Shield works and won't let you last hit and since cannon's are worth even more now it's even harder to get gold with it since you lose out on the most profitable one.
When im playing with my buddy and hes adc i will literally yell at him to let me have it because otherwise the basic adc programing kicks in and he just right clicks on anything with a red hp bar
I never build it on Thresh anyways, way to annoying since hes technically not melee so its not nearly as easy to get the execute off, and now that cannon minions are basically extremely valuable...I'd rather not risk missing it for my ADC. Also because I rem them nerfing Relic Shields for ranged champions I think, and since thresh technically is a ranged champion it loses it's value to me.
Use chat or pings to let your adc know want the big one.
If you really wanna be a cheeky breeky, minion demat allows you to pop a cannon as soon as it comes into your lane for the juicy gold and makes it a bit easier to secure later.
I have more issues with normal relic shield users automatically going for the caster minions when I'm playing MF and using them as Q targets. Especially when there's a melee/siege minion that's safely in their range.
i prefer coin on him and most champs easier to spam spells and low effort in collecting the gold
