Most people have never taken a real IQ test, and even IQ tests are flawed.
From the same out-of-touch press that claimed video games were turning innocent children into mass-murdering psychopaths.
IQ tests are flawed by their very nature. There is no perfect or semi-perfect way to measure intelligence. Like all tests, they measure how good you are at taking that particular test on that day in that setting. Higher education for your age will typically increase your IQ test score. So will taking a test that was designed by people like you.
But of course, higher elo correlates to higher intelligence. You need very fast reason speed to play at higher elos. Same reason not using fillers like uh, well, and like is a sign of a higher intelligence. Your brain is going faster so you don't need them. Higher intelligence means you would likely better at careers that involve the understanding of high-level maths etc. However, it doesn't correlate with an increased likelihood of financial success or happiness.

While IQ tests are flawed, I don't see how intelligence would affect being good at the game. It honestly just depends on how much you like the game and your willingness to get better, in my opinion at the very least.
Perhaps it might help, but it isn't the sole determining factor.
My IQ is 135 and I started in my first ranked season in Gold, for example. Now I'm diamond. My IQ didn't change to correspond to my ranking, I just got better at the game and acquired some more game knowledge.
I don't think I'm an intelligent person. I wanna see the average IQs of the different Elo brackets, since I think my IQ is "only" about average (aka around 100).
I don't think I've been able to get any better than gold because I've never had an account long enough to play against anyone better than plat 5
Intelligence and elo I think are non-correllative and are irrelevant in this games standard environment as there are many more factors that affect how a game goes than just intelligence. Perhaps mental stability is more of a factor in determining your skill as most of these controlled experiments dont account for psychological study and even conditions like Narcolepsy. So this article is garbage.
