Ranking takes me too long and the issue is MMR

Here's my problem with the system.

When you have a HIGH mmr, you are placed against HIGH mmr opponents. If anybody could possibly not know what I mean by MMR, it is the background/hidden rating of your skill which is used to match you against your opponents which is completely separate from your displayed Ranking.

For me to get into Plat, there seem to be High Plats in the game, instead of high golds, or low plats. My MMR is high, so my opponents MMR is high. So I will have a 50/50 chance games of winning due to it matching me against similarity rated opponents.

My friends on the other hand will have golds in their games when going to plat. They have an easier time getting there because they have lost more games. They also have a 50/50 chance of winning however, because they are less skilled. But it's easier, because the overall competition level to achieve the same status is reduced.

Here's my problem, if I'm the better player, why am I having 50/50 games to get into the same division as another less skilled player. If my skill is Plat, it should be easier to get to plat. I work 40 hour weeks now and the grind is too hard to get to my previous rankings.

I don't know what do you guys think?

While you may have a 50/50 winrate against high plats, if you're not yet high plat yourself, you should be gaining significantly more LP for a win than you lose for a loss.

Yeah which is the only way you actually climb in the system, which I think is odd. But once you get to Silver 1, Gold 1, Plat 1, wherever your boundary is, it can be too hard to cross due to the wins to loss ration required to clear promos, to where you slowly lose your MMR. It can take multiple attempts to make it out, where you essentially have less than a 50% chance of making it out due to having to win 3 out of 5, plus the game or two to get you into promos.

The thing that gives us a free win going into promos once you've entered promos before is very helpful though, but it still requires you to win more than 50% of the games to get out due to the wins required to get into promos. (1 or 2 wins to get into promos), + win 2 out of 4 games, that's 3 out of 5, or 4 out of 6.

So For me to get out, the process is to fail my 3 out of 5 wins enough until my MMR lowers enough, to where I"m finally facing people I can stomp hard enough to make it into Plat. It's either that or get lucky and have good team mates, or at least ones willing to play out the entire game, more often than I should.

This is only bad on series, but riot implemented several fixes to this.

  1. If you win the series and your MMR is much higher than it should be, you will skip divisions.
  2. If you get 100 LP and your MMR is absurdly higher than it should be, you will skip the series and jump up.
  3. Outside of series if you have high plat MMR and your friend has mid gold MMR but you're the same division, you will be earning like 24 LP a game and they'll be earning like 16. You'll also be losing less and they will be losing more.
  4. If you lose more games than you win your MMR will go down, but if it's still promotion ready you will still get series. For example if you fail a series 2-3, and then lose 8 games but win 4-5, you can retrigger your series with lower MMR but the same LP.
  5. AT 0LP, DEMOTION PREVENTION KICKS IN WHICH IS ESSENTIALLY AN INVISIBLE REVERSE SERIES.

So honestly it's not that bad.

I think for Promos, it should face you against people of similar rank, not similar MMR. For LP, it should work how it works currently. This would handle my complaint perfectly, and I think it would be very fair.
