Honor Levels Shouldn't Be Severely Punishing on End of Season Rewards
I know this will be looked down upon since it's an unpopular opinion, but I'm speaking for those who been grinding games for months (literally) to get their honor 2 back before the season ends. The reason why I say this shouldn't be severely punishing is simply cause of this, it takes extremely too long to level up your own honor level.
When a player gets chat restricted, it's a problem that can be fixed by keeping your cool and playing those 10 games out. But now with the Honor system being introduced, a player suffers so much. The punishment for losing your honor outweighs so much compared to the punishment for chat restriction by a huge margin! Chat restriction is 10 games. But trying to get your honor 2 back is like 200+ assuming you keep a positive behavior throughout those games and get at least an honor or so each game.
Why do I say losing your honor is severely punishing? I'll tell you why.
This season I got to Diamond rank for the first time. There were a lot of heated moments simply because I was playing Jungle and you know how it is with laners always blaming their Junglers and etc. I got this rank 2 months before the season ended. However, I already lost my honor a month ago. So basically I was playing rank to get the rank I really wanted as well as working on my honor level. I started working on my honor 3 months before the season ended. I played so much games to the point where I got 1200 games with Kayn in ranked. I played so much games to get the Prestige Riven skin which costs like 2000 tokens. I played so much to get 2200 world tokens so I can get the Prestige Miss Fortune skin. Oh yeah, I wanna mentioned I also got a Highnoon Ashe chroma on the way that costs like 300 tokens. That's 4500 world tokens I earned for the past few months. Do note, I spent no money on buying world tokens, I only bought the Worlds pass to earn tokens after ever game. So can you imagine how many games I have played? And YET, I only reached to Honor 1 level 0 within those 3 months.
Now you know why. I honestly don't care about the end of season rewards since I got the rank I really wanted. But I want to speak for those who strongly felt how unfair the honor system is.
If we ranked players know, that we can't get our honor 2 back within 3 months, then what is the purpose of playing ranked to get Gold then? This season lasts for 11 months. If the players been grinding ranked for 8 months and still try to get the ranked they want, but somehow they lost their honor level because they got tilted, became toxic, had a lot of heated arguments, or said one bad word that can really shut your honor level down--------- then what's the purpose of keep playing ranked for the remaining 3 months of the season?
If this system continues as it is, it will discourage players from continue playing more ranked games after they get hit with losing their honor. Honor 2 is the minimum to get the end of season rewards, but Riot makes this system feel like players are grinding to get honor 5, when in reality it's not. But that's what it feels like after playing so much countless games and only get Honor 1 level 0. And I will say it again, after 3 months of grinding. 3 months! That's bizarre! Don't forget, I kept my positive behavior and had some honors from my teammates each game throughout those 3 months.
I feel like Riot needs to look into this, cause it is such a nuisance of how the make the honor system becomes more of a huge burden than the chat restriction itself. At least give players who are still working on getting their honor 2 back some sort of grace period so they can work on their mindset of earning those rewards back.
Anyways I felt like I should say this and speak for others that are still working on improving their honor level till this day. It's just something I couldn't just sit in the shadow and say nothing about it. Anyways, good luck on the next season everyone!
