Balancing Towards Closer Games - fun to spectate but is it fun to play?

It seems with every patch league of legends games get closer and closer.

With closer games, games that would have snowballed a victory in the past due to taking positive trades 3-4 times in a row can now be flipped after taking 1 bad trade later on. Thus continued good play is rewarded, makes sense.

I know I find close games super fun to spectate when I'm watching pro play. One of my favorite games of this year below was Game 3 of KT vs IG which was an awesome series and I would recommend. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJqaoHlN5Ag I don't think the game could have been any closer 1 or 2 AA off a different outcome.

My question is do people find close games fun to play and should all games be close? When games are on a knifes edge it can be extremely rewarding but also extremely frustrating depending on if you are the victor or the defeated. Creating a higher stress leveled environment than before. (I know its a game and stress level varies per player but I'm happy to assume a closer game would yield a net higher stress for most/all players even if that stress level is still negligible)

What are peoples opinions on this?

games have never been close outside of competitive play, and they're getting further and further apart for lower than high diamond with most games being pretty much decided by 10 minutes now
