1,700 IP - Should I buy a Champion Shard or Save Up for a Champion?

I've never crafted before except to get mastery. I have all the champions up until Illaoi. I main support and don't really need any of the new champions, but I want to get them without paying real money.

$0 because I've put way too much money into this game already 0 RP 1,700 IP 321 Blue Essence 1,838 Orange Essence 0 Rare Gemstones 1 Key

Each champion is 6,300 IP. Should I save up and buy the new champs or should I buy the champion shards for 1,700?

(Edit: I went ahead and bought this so skip this question.) Also side question, I would like to get the DJ Sona skin. I'm not paying that outrageously stupid price for it. Is there a way to craft it? I know very little about the actual crafting system. But this isn't that big of a deal. I like Sona's original skin.

Ultimate skins are worth the price.

DJ sona is 3 skins in one and adds some tunes to the game.

If every champion you need to buy is 6300, then simply reroll 3 shards for 5100 IP each time.

In order to craft DJ Sona, you need to obtain the skin shard from a Hextech chest. Then, save up enough orange essence to turn the skin shard into a skin permanent.

If not, Buy shards
