Ranked Rewards Eligibility Update

League of Legends 2018 Season Rewards Update

As far as I'm concerned, Riot implemented the honor system as a way to keep players in check and to make them nicer and more driven to be nice in order to obtain rewards. Ranked was implemented as a way for players to play competitively and to test their skills against players with similar skills. Ranked rewards used to require gold in ranked in order to gain the rewards, now you _also _ need honor level two.

I think that there are a few problems with this.

Why is Riot mixing a competitive based part of the game with something that's meant to be fun. Sure, everyone gets honor level two, but how come it has to be a requirement. Why doesn't a higher honor level mean better rewards? Isn't that what was promised when honor was released? I was honor level two, got chat banned on false accusations even with chat logs, and now my honor is locked. After a month of playing, I finally got unlocked. After another month I got my first checkpoint to honor level on. I think that this is a good point to mention that I was hitting three to four honors after every other game and it didn't even feel like those honors did anything. The honor system takes way to long to help "dishonorable" players get ranked up in honor again. I feel like getting your honor level up is harder than hitting the ranks required for seasonal rewards.

I get Riot's idea, give everyone honor level two, maintain it or go higher, and then you get your reward if you hit gold. It's like how ranked is open to everyone level thirty and above, go higher and get your reward.

I feel like there are a few options: Increase the speed at which honor increases. Remove the honor level two requirement. Keep the honor level two and gold requirements.

Just because there are toxic players, they aren't bad. Chat ban them or suspend them, but don't take their rewards away from them if they put in the time to get the rank. This is just a message to show the problems that I find in the new honor system. I don't think that Riot will actually change their new requirements for ranked rewards, but I wanted my opinion out here.

Without loss of access to rewards, there are no tangible consequences for being toxic. Requiring honorable behavior to be eligible for ranked rewards is a good thing. Maybe it should be tweaked, but it's good that Riot implemented this in the first place.

Don't you start as honor lvl 2 though? If so then Riots requirement isn't "be nice" it's "don't be excessively toxic." It's like owning a car, you don't hav to be a good driver to keep it, just not a terribly bad driver so you don't lose it.
