Because it's the hottest recent game and it'd be stupid to not market it as such.
Wether it lasts or not as an Esport is another matter.
Dota 2 somehow had a tournament before the game was even out to the public. Hell the "beta" phase of dota 2 lasted 3 TIs before it came out officially.
