Ungrateful Workers.. Sigh....

As some may know, I own some gas stations here in Ohio. I had 2 people(Both room mates), come to me and ask for a raise. I said no because they have only been there 2 months. They walked out... Sigh...

I mean.. they already got paid 11.25 a hour + a 35 dollar a week gas allowance... That is good money in my opinion for a full time gas station clerk who gets 3-15 minute paid breaks. Sigh......... + they got health insurance + dental for 4.75 a week+ 5 percent 401k match and 2 weeks of vacation.

quite ungrateful, I get paid 12.50 per hour at home depot and I have not once requested a raise, because they already gave me partial medical and dental coverage, what more could I need at this point?

I don't know their personal circumstances, but it would be quite difficult to get by with 11.25 for anyone who isn't single living in a cheap apartment like myself. I get 14 an hour with all the overtime I want (basically 21 an hour from Thursday afternoon to Saturday night) and I'm quite content, but I never go anywhere or do anything, I have very few bills, and my rent is 495 per month. I can't imagine living with 11.25 an hour if I had a family and/or house or ever wanted to do anything.

Here I am spending $75 a week on gas because I have to travel to college, then back home, then go back to college for my classes 2 hours later, the go back home, then go to work, then go home, and repeat it all tomorrow. Meanwhile I dont get any breaks at where I work (subway), the only thing we get is a Free Meal. Where you get a free 6 inch sub, then you get 5 minutes to eat it.

At Mcdonalds, workers get half off. Thats 50c for a hamburger! And they get a 30 minute break, and have room for advancement. Your workers are very ungrateful depending on their education and age, I would take that job any day over getting a 5 minute break and $7.75 an hour.

Don't ever work with your roommates

In Japan, people rarely ask for raises. You do good work for long enough, you'll probably get a raise. If you feel unappreciated for too long, then you look for new work. The employer/employee relationship is pretty serious over here, even if it's friendly outside of work.

Though I play video games for a living, so I don't have to worry too much about that!

You are probably a nicer boss than 90% of employers.

Isn't $11.50 poverty wages though?

This is why I go to college so I'd get a better paid job and wouldn't have to work with chumps like those.

I mean, minimum wage here in Australia is approximately 25/hr (~$20US)...

at least they have initiative????

Lol that is pretty ungrateful, i understand being a struggling worker but if you have only worked somewhere 2 months you can't talk about raises.

Okay, your roommates are ridiculous. I was getting 8.50 after working as an attendant for 3 years with no benefits at all. I had no vacation hours or anything and until they removed the chair I say down in worked 11 hour Sundays with no break.

Meanwhile I got a €100 raise/month without even asking for it.
