This is my first pre-season in League and I have a question for ranked

Can you still climb in pre-season to other elos and get higher MMR for your placements so you're placed higher? Can you be demoted? How is League's MMR model this year?

Of course I did research but most of the discussions are outdated. League changes vastly every year so this would be great to know since I am still relatively a new player
