Help me transition

Okay, so i am a support main i mainly play and, but can pretty much play any other support as well. (I.e etc.)

the role i would like to transition to is top lane, but i have spoken to my friends about this and they say that top is boring and not fun, and yet i see them pick top as a role in ranked/ normal draft.

my play style is pretty passive but i can be aggressive if i have to.

so, yeah, just would like some advice on where to transition, and who to play.
