To be honest, I don't usually bother writing in forums such as these but I am genuinely curious in terms of how Riot's matchmaking algorithm works and if anyone had personal ideas as to how climbing works in ranked solo/duo.

To give you a little background on my account, it is about 8 years old (Started Season 2). Now, credit I do not dedicate 8+ hours a day to the game, but I "feel" as though the algorithm for matchmaking is somewhat getting worse and the ability to climb is essentially unrealistic. Correct me if I am wrong, because this is a feeling and no facts to base the claim. This is why I came here to have a sensible discussion and view others thoughts.

So its more realistic for Riot to match you with better players to carry you every game?

I main supports so i have looked into going up the ranks as a support and found out that when you assist people in kills or team objectives you tend to rank higher but it also helps to do little things like place a lot of wards and de-ward the other team. I don't know if defending a tower when someone backs helps but i tend to do it. I also know that moving up in ranked tends to be different based on the roll you play and how good you play that one roll but i could be wrong.
