I find it humorous seeing people who passed on funerals, vacations and the like for clash.

It sounds like clash will be happening fairly often where as your grandpa's funeral is only happening once.

The irony for me is that people didn't expect issues.

Like as a veteran of several WoW expac launches and numerous online game releases, this is pretty standard for me. Ironically this is still not as bad as Diablo 3. At least Riot gave something to players.
