does anyone else think Life Steal should be a Unique passive?

idk it just seems pretty unhealthy when i see a Riven or a Draven or something build 2 or more of these item 3153 item 3072 item 3812 item 3074

and yeah you can buy Executioners but it just feels like you're forced to, its an answer not a strateigic choice

(on a side note, im also not a fan of Nasus' passive being "you have a Bloodthirster" but thats an entirely different discussion)

Lifesteal has a weak early game, a non-existent mid game, and is at its strongest late game.

Early game, you can negate some poke but it won't save you in an all-in. Mid game, burst champions reign and you aren't gonna outheal it. You can try but their next rotation WILL kill you. Late Game, survive the burst and manage your positioning to make them regret it.

At least, that's how I see it. It is definitely a late game stat for the most part.

My issue comes with Gunblade for Assassins that specialize in single-target. Gunblade just grants so much healing and offensive stats that it reduces what little counter play an assassin might have.

item 3123 item 3165 item 3076 summoner 14 summoner 3 No.

Anyone who stacks massive amounts of life steal are also likely squishy as fuck. Clusterfuck them with CC and it's GG.

Getting drain tank status should be a lot harder but it seems like Death's Dance is enough for some characters

I think life steal should be removed or reworked entirely.

"You do so much damage that it has become a defensive stat" is never a good design, and in the particular case of lifesteal, it's especially degenerate because it provides near-immunity to poke.

That's the point of executioners. It keeps things like this from getting out of hand. Sure you may feel "forced" to buy it, but realistically how many cases where you need executioners is it really optional? For example, if a Soraka is keeping your team from winning fights you have to buy it.

TBH I think itemizing for lifesteal is fine, though I think things like Death's Dance spin it a bit out of control at times since it not only sustains you and gives you spellvamp, but it reduces burst damage by 1/3. The concept behind lifesteal is sustaining yourself while in risky positions, you're basically choosing to take damage to deal damage so its a way of rewarding yourself with small amounts of healing. Like I think you should be allowed to take more than 2 lifesteal options but you should have your damage suffer for it or your durability, none of the items listed are really efficient damage items on their own so you have to build them with other items, they're there to compliment a damage build or to synergize with your kit.

I do think defensive utility + lifesteal is a bit crazy at times, Bloodthirster usually requires you waste time farming something away from enemies and to have the amount of dmg to feed your shield and it falls off with time. The shield is very conditional. Death's Dance tho, you have 80 AD, 10% cdr, 15% spellvamp (physical) and 30% of all damage is delayed over 3s to give you a chance to lifesteal. There's no conditions for it to work, you just counter the sustain with grevious wounds or use true damage which it can't convert to counter it and those are pretty much your only options. It's always a good buy if it synergizes with your champion and is pretty foolproof. I wouldn't say this item is OP but its an 80 AD 10% CDR item that greatly increases your survivability on its own, I don't think there's much comparable to it.
