I am moving to Tuscaloosa, Alabama from Indianapolis in 2 weeks for work. Does any one know anything about Alabama that I should know because the only states I have really ever went to was Ohio and Indiana. Does any one know any safe neighborhoods I should consider settling down in. Since It was a promotion, I will be getting a significant pay raise+ they will cover living experiences for 90 days.

Are you a white, heterosexual, protestant, property owning male? Things will probably be pretty good.

It's one of the better states in the USA.

Be sure to put a banjo on your knee.

It's a requirement for all Alabamans.

Everybody I've known that is from or lived in Alabama has basically the same thing to say about it: It's a racist, bible thumping, backwater shitstain. I dunno why you or anybody else would agree to move there willingly, best of luck though.

There was a carpenter I met from Alabama who came to NYC because there was no work for him there. Imagine a skinny looking lumberjack, beard and all in his 30s. Complained about the price for a bottle of water being $1.50 and how he wish if he had known, he'd of brought with him a tank filled with water from his house's well. Cost of living is very different as well as economic opportunities.

There are also people who move to NYC from Florida as well.

I live in Georgia myself, but they have similarities. Most of the year is nice, but the summers are hot and humid. There are also A LOT more trees - if you see any open space it was probably cleared. I can’t speak to the neighborhoods though.
