I don't care why. Just please disable newly released/reworked champions in Ranked for two weeks

This is Riot's response in Ask Riot as to why aren't newly released/reworked champions disabled from Ranked Games:

Releasing a new champion or a major champion update is a big deal for us and for players, especially at the slower release cadence we use these days. After the teasing and the hype and the spotlights, we want players to be able to try the champion out right away. For players whose primary way to engage in League is through ranked (and that’s a lot of players) a week can feel like a long time, especially since the champion will have been on the PBE before that.

However, we sympathize with the basic problem you’re hinting at, of someone going into ranked with a champion they have never played before, and having your team possibly pay the price. While we think the new Practice Mode will help some with this problem, we also have discussed requiring you to play with the champion – even if it’s as little as one game – before you take him or her into ranked. No concrete plans at the moment, but it’s something we’ll keep on our radar.

Take note of the bolded sentence. Now, take a look at this pitiful match history from someone who shared his pain about:

<image removed by moderation>

This dude just lost over 10-18 LP just because some idiotic impatient douche can't wait to play the new champion on a mode where only to ruin, not just himself, but his whole teammates' LP & promo matches.

Riot, do you honestly favor players' comfort in testing out new champions ASAP over tons of LP being risked over the whole playerbase? Cz I find this to be the most dumbest reasoning I've ever read. You also mentioned in the last 2 sentences that you're putting this distress problem on your radar & hopefully do something about it. It's been a year, where's that "solution"?

It's things like this why, aside from handling the stress from playing Ranked games, I refuse to play Ranked at all since I prefer not losing my LP to something as stupid as this.

Please. Either disable new/reworked champions for two weeks, or have them play that specific champions at least 5 to 10 times. Some sort of limitations has to be applied for this.

It won't work to put it off for 2 weeks, people will just wait until then and then do the same thing just 2 weeks delayed.

What you would have to do is require some number of normal games played. And possibly add a requirement that the games have to be won or that the player needs a certain mastery score from each game. For example, 3 normal games where the player earned an A or better with that champion.

They don't want to mainly so they can collect preformance data to properly buff/nerf new releases.

trust me, no number of normal matches is going to make a player like that not feed in slightly more organized settings when everybody is trying harder. Only thing the wait would help with is he hype build up to try her competitively, which would be worse if you make them wait longer.

Ban the champ i main mid so ill never see a Akali on my team and if they are so stupid to pick it top ill just ban it anyways

Riot's said they're not going to countless times, basically nobody actually supports this idea...

What makes you think it'll be different this time around?

good lord I know what you mean. I've never had this problem before, but FOR SOME REASON on Akalis release this has been an absolute plague in my ranked games. played 3 ranked games yesterday where my teammates picked akali. 3. lost all 3 and Akali inted in all 3. not saying thats necessarily correlated, but it's true. I ended up being basically forced to ban Akali for the rest of my ranked games.

It's fucking horseshit. forced to ban a champion, NOT BECAUSE I DONT WANT TO FIGHT THEM; BUT BECAUSE I DONT WANT MY TEAMMATES LOSING ON THEM. I had 5 dodges in a row because I kept banning Akali!!!

GUYS: BELIEVE IT OR NOT THERE IS A GAMEMODE DEDICATED SPECIFICALLY TO TRYING CHAMPIONS YOU HAVEN'T MASTERED YET. **THE GAMEMODE IS CALLED: ANYTHING BESIDES RANKED!!!!!!! **

I just got a free win from someone first timing new Akali and feeding their ass off. It cuts both ways.

This post essentially just says 'release content 2 weeks later pls'

I hate this type of mindset with a passion. So what if people do bad on new champs? Others do bad on old champs.

MOVING ON.

Played her first time in ranked and went 13-1. Cant see the problem.

not even new champions you shouldn't be able to pick a champion you are below mastery 3 on imo and if a champion is reworked they shouldn't be playable for two weeks if you had mastery before the rework

BlueVestGuy8/1/2018, 9:05:39 PM1 votes

nuh uh you're not allowed to complain about akali

DotEleven8/1/2018, 11:03:28 PM1 votes

I mean, the thing is, this might help a bit, but there are a lot of people that don't go in to be like "I'm going to play akali" they go in to play a ranked game, and if Akali's not available for two weeks, they just won't use her until she's available in ranked so all this really does is just push what happens from release to two weeks after release.

If you're outside NA, only the sadomasochistic (hey Mundo) play on the PBE, because of ping reasons....

I really haven't seen any first timers of akali in ranked so far the only one who played her had practiced. At the end of the day you can't blame riot for people being foolish enough to bring a first time play through into a ranked game.
